SharpLink Gaming Reports Significant Loss in Quarterly Earnings

Sharp Decline in Stock Price

SharpLink Gaming, backed by Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, announced its second-quarter (April to June) earnings on the 15th. The company recorded a net loss of $103 million, with its stock price closing at $19.85, down approximately 15% from the previous day.

The bulk of the net loss, amounting to $87.8 million, was due to a non-cash impairment related to the liquidity staking of ETH holdings. This valuation was applied based on the lowest ETH price of $2,300 during the quarter, in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Robert Delsia, the Chief Financial Officer, explained, 'This is a non-cash loss, resulting from adherence to current accounting practices.'
