U.S. SEC & CFTC Clarify Regulations to Facilitate Exchange Listings of Cryptocurrencies

Initiation of Project Crypto's Implementation

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a joint statement on September 2nd regarding spot cryptocurrency commodity transactions. Both agencies expressed the view that current laws do not prohibit cryptocurrency commodity transactions on SEC or CFTC registered exchanges, clearly demonstrating a supportive stance towards the development of the cryptocurrency market in the United States.

This statement was announced as a measure to strengthen the collaboration between the SEC's 'Project Crypto' and the CFTC's 'Crypto Sprint'.
