Ethereum Foundation Plans to Sell 10,000 ETH to Secure Funding for Research and Development

In September, the Ethereum Foundation announced its plan to sell 10,000 ETH through exchanges. The purpose of this sale is to secure funding for research and development, grants, and donations. To avoid large market impacts, the sale will be conducted in multiple small orders over several weeks. The Foundation has made this sale plan public in advance to ensure transparency. The transactions will be carried out through fiat off-ramps and on-chain swaps. Previously, on August 29, the Foundation's Ecosystem Support Program (ESP) announced a temporary pause in its open grant applications. Since its inception in 2018, the ESP has provided approximately $3 million to 105 projects in 2024 alone, citing a strategic shift as the reason for the pause.
