U.S. SEC & CFTC Consider Domestic Expansion of Cryptocurrency Perpetual Futures Trading

On September 5, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a joint statement aimed at unifying cryptocurrency regulations. The statement was signed by SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Acting Chair Caroline Pham, clearly indicating a commitment to the domestic return of innovative financial products. The most notable initiatives include the expansion of the 24-hour trading market and the liberalization of perpetual contracts, considering extended trading hours in line with the expansion of on-chain finance. As the forex, gold, and cryptocurrency markets already operate on a continuous trading basis, these measures aim to enhance alignment with a globally operational economy.
