BlackRock Considers Tokenization of ETFs, Reports Say

A New Phase in the Expansion of Digital Assets

BlackRock, the world's largest asset management firm, has started exploring the tokenization of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on the blockchain, Bloomberg reported on the 12th, citing sources familiar with the matter. The company is considering the tokenization of funds linked to real assets such as stocks, though regulatory considerations are a prerequisite. In 2024, BlackRock successfully tokenized its money market fund 'BUIDL', growing it to over $2 billion in size. The firm's Bitcoin spot ETF has also become one of the most popular funds of its kind.
