CME Group Announces Launch of SOL and XRP Futures Options Trading, Expanding Hedging Options for Institutional Investors

CME Group, the largest derivatives exchange in the United States, announced on October 14 the commencement of trading in futures options for Solana (SOL) and Ripple's XRP. The first transaction for XRP futures options was executed on October 12 between Wintermute and Superstate, and the first transaction for Solana futures options was carried out on October 13 between Cumberland DRW and Galaxy. According to the announcement, all these transactions were conducted via block trades. Block trading is a method where large orders are executed off the regular exchange order book in a private manner, minimizing market impact.
