Financial Advisory Council Focuses on Insider Trading Regulations and Bank Handling Requirements for Crypto Assets

The 'Crypto Assets System Working Group' of the Financial Advisory Council held its fourth meeting on the 22nd. The main focus was on the regulation of insider trading of crypto assets and the regulatory requirements for banks and insurance companies handling crypto assets.

The Crypto Assets Working Group is currently considering shifting the regulatory framework for crypto assets from the Funds Settlement Law to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law. The Financial Services Agency aims to amend the law in the regular session of the National Diet in 2026, and is poised to accelerate system development on the regulatory front.
