Kazakhstan to Establish a Cryptocurrency Reserve Fund of up to $1 Billion by Early 2026

Scale of $500 Million to $1 Billion

According to a report by Bloomberg on the 8th, Kazakhstan is set to establish a national cryptocurrency reserve fund ranging from $500 million to $1 billion, with a launch planned by early 2026. The sources of the fund will include assets seized or returned from abroad, as well as revenues from state-run mining operations. The fund will not hold tokens or cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) directly, but will instead invest in exchange-traded funds and companies related to cryptocurrencies. Kazakhstan had previously announced the concept of a state-managed cryptocurrency reserve fund in mid-2024. At that time, the financial regulatory authority had stated that illegally obtained or seized digital assets would be used as national reserves to 'support the economy...'
