Japan's Financial Services Agency Moves Toward Mandatory Disclosure for Crypto Asset Issuers for Fundraising Purposes—Reports

According to a report by the Nikkei, the Financial Services Agency (FSA) has solidified its policy to mandate regular disclosures for businesses issuing crypto assets for fundraising purposes.

During discussions at the Financial Council, considerations are being made to require issuers to disclose their crypto asset holdings, plans for additional issuance, and the usage of the funds raised.

On the 15th, the FSA indicated that it would treat 105 crypto asset brands handled by domestic exchanges under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, clarifying the application of disclosure obligations and insider trading regulations.

All these measures are expected to be included in the amendment to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act scheduled for submission at the ordinary Diet session in 2026.
