US CME Recovers After More Than 11 Hours of Trading Halt Due to Data Center Cooling Failure

Over 11 Hours of Trading Halt Due to Cooling Failure

On the 28th, CME Group, the world's largest futures exchange operator, experienced a cooling system failure at its data center, leading to a suspension of futures trading for over 11 hours. This temporary halt affected futures trading in stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies, causing disruption in global markets.

Equity futures and options trading fully resumed at 8:30 AM Eastern Time on the 28th. CME stated that the Globex futures and options market, the EBS foreign exchange platform, and the BMD market were impacted.

CME attributed the cause of the failure to a cooling issue at the CyrusOne-operated facility in the Chicago area. CyrusOne...
