Connecticut Issues Cease and Desist Orders to Robinhood and Others for Unlicensed Sports Betting

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection issued cease and desist orders on December 3rd to three companies: Robinhood Derivatives, Crypto.com, and Karsi EX, for operating online gambling businesses without a license. All three are accused of violating state law by providing sports betting services.

Brian T. Cafferelli, the head of the Consumer Protection, stated that only licensed operators are permitted to offer sports betting in Connecticut. These companies do not possess the necessary licenses and, even if they did, they would still be in violation of several state laws, including offering gambling services to individuals under the age of 21.
