According to the Nikkei, the Bank of Japan has solidified plans to raise the policy interest rate from the current 0.5% to 0.75% during the monetary policy meeting scheduled for December 18 and 19. If implemented, this will be the first significant rate hike since 1995. Reports indicate that the BOJ's executive team, including Governor Kazuo Ueda, intends to propose the rate hike, with a majority of the nine policy members expected to approve.
