SBI and Startale to Jointly Develop a Yen-Denominated Trust-Based Stablecoin

On the 16th, SBI Holdings and Startale announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the joint development of a yen-denominated stablecoin compliant with Japanese financial regulations, targeting a launch in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. The stablecoin to be issued is designed as a trust-based Type 3 electronic payment method. It is crafted to operate without the domestic transfer and retention limit of one million yen, and is intended for diverse applications including cross-border payments, corporate transactions, and on-chain payments.
