Ethereum Foundation Highlights Risks of 'State Bloat', Proposes Three Solutions

Addressing the Challenges of State Growth

On the 16th, the Ethereum Foundation's research group, which supports the research and development of the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH), called attention to the increased storage burden caused by 'state bloat'. They also proposed corresponding measures. In Ethereum, users' balances are not stored in wallets but in the 'state' of the ETH network. The state can be understood as all the information recorded on Ethereum. For instance, wallets use the state to display balances and past actions. Decentralized applications (dApps) use it for positions, orders, and more.
