U.S. Senate Confirms Two Pro-Cryptocurrency Advocates Nominated by Trump as Heads of CFTC and FDIC

On December 18, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm two cryptocurrency advocates nominated by President Trump, appointing Michael Selig as the Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Travis Hill as the Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The vote passed with a margin of 53 to 43, as part of a bulk confirmation that included 97 government personnel appointments. Selig, who is currently handling cryptocurrency-related matters at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will succeed Caroline Pham as the acting chair of the CFTC.
