Strengthening Cybersecurity in Africa

On January 9th, stablecoin issuer Tether announced a joint initiative with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The initiative aims to bolster public education on cybersecurity and cryptocurrency security across Africa.

Africa is emerging as the third fastest-growing region for cryptocurrency, which has led to increased vulnerability to cryptocurrency fraud. Recent operations by Interpol have uncovered $260 million in illicit cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies across the continent.

This collaboration supports the UNODC's 'African Strategy Vision 2030' by enhancing community resilience and cryptocurrency asset security...
