Tether Partners with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

On January 9th, stablecoin issuer Tether announced a joint initiative with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The initiative aims to bolster public education on cybersecurity and cryptocurrency security across Africa.

Africa is emerging as the third fastest-growing region for cryptocurrency adoption, which has increased its vulnerability to cryptocurrency fraud. Recent operations by Interpol have uncovered $260 million in illicit cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies across the continent.
