F/m Investments Submits Application for Tokenized ETF Shares to the U.S. SEC

F/m Investments, a firm managing $18 billion in assets, submitted an exemption application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on January 21, seeking permission to record the ownership of shares in its flagship product, the 3-month U.S. Treasury ETF (TBIL), on the blockchain. This application is considered the first by an ETF issuer seeking SEC relief for tokenized shares of a registered investment company. CEO Alexander Morris of F/m Investments stated, 'The tokenization of securities markets is coming, whether we apply for it or not. The question is whether it will occur within the regulatory framework that investors have relied on for 85 years or proceed without that protection.'
