Japan to Potentially Lift Ban on Domestic Cryptocurrency Spot ETFs by 2028, SBI and Nomura Considering Development

The Financial Services Agency (FSA) plans to amend the enforcement order of the Investment Trusts Law, incorporating cryptocurrencies as 'specified assets' for investment. The report indicates that financial giants such as SBI Holdings and Nomura Holdings are advancing in product development. If the Tokyo Stock Exchange approves the listing, individual investors will be able to buy and sell these ETFs through brokerage accounts, similar to how they currently trade stock or gold ETFs.
