Security Researcher Discovers Leak of 149 Million Database Records, Multiple Services Affected

Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Payment Services Also Impacted

Last week, cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler announced the discovery of an unprotected 96GB database containing over 149 million login details exposed online. The database lacked password protection and encryption. The estimated number of compromised accounts includes 48 million Gmail accounts, 17 million Facebook accounts, 6.5 million Instagram accounts, 4 million Yahoo accounts, 3.4 million Netflix accounts, 1.5 million Outlook accounts, 1.4 million from educational domains, 900,000 iCloud accounts, and others from various platforms.
