Winter Storm Impacts Mining Operations

On-chain analysis firm CryptoQuant released its weekly market report on the 29th, revealing that the U.S. winter storm has forced mining companies to scale back operations, resulting in the largest drop in Bitcoin (BTC) network hashrate since October 2021.

The hashrate is an indicator of the number of hash calculations that can be performed per second in cryptocurrency mining, measured in 'hash/s', where 's' stands for 'second'. It represents how many calculations can be performed in one second.
