Vitalik Proposes a New Direction for Ethereum L2's Role

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ETH), posted a discussion about Layer 2 (L2) on the 4th. He stated that the traditional vision of L2 as merely a scaling solution has reached its limits, and a new direction is necessary.

It appears he has revised his previously advocated 'rollup-centric' scaling model. A rollup involves bundling numerous transactions on L2 and verifying their legitimacy on Ethereum's Layer 1 (mainnet).
