Post-'Fusaka' Upgrade, Ethereum Sees Surge in 'Dust Attacks' - Analysis

On the 3rd, blockchain analytics firm Coin Metrics released an analysis report indicating a significant increase in 'dust attacks' on the Ethereum network following the 'Fusaka' upgrade.

A 'dust attack' involves attackers sending minuscule amounts of tokens (worth a few cents) to a large number of wallets. The aim is to sneak fraudulent addresses into the transaction history of victims, inducing erroneous transfers or tracking the flow of funds.

Previously, high gas fees made these attacks economically unfeasible, but the reduction in fees due to the Fusaka upgrade has made them economically viable.
