U.S. CME to Launch Tokenized Cash Products Within the Year

During the earnings call on February 4th, Terence Duffy, CEO of CME Group, the world's largest derivatives exchange, revealed that the company is considering issuing its own cryptocurrency tokens. He also mentioned plans to launch tokenized cash products in 2026, which are currently being developed in collaboration with Google Cloud.

In response to a question from a Morgan Stanley analyst about tokenized collateral, Mr. Duffy stated that there is a possibility of deploying proprietary coins on a decentralized network accessible to other industry participants. However, it remains unclear whether these will be CME's own issued tokens or if they will be similar to JPMorgan's JPMD deposit tokens, used for payments and margins...
