Lack of Creativity Stifles the Industry

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed on his social media on the 5th that 'copy-paste EVM chains are unnecessary,' strongly criticizing the current state of Layer 2 (L2) projects.

Advancing the discussion from the previous day that 'L2 needs a new direction,' he warned that the mass production of simplistic EVM-compatible chains has compromised the ecosystem's creativity and 'led us to a dead end.'

Buterin particularly criticized the practice of 'creating a new EVM chain and just adding an optimistic bridge to Ethereum a week later'...
