The South Korean Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) announced at a press conference on Monday that it has started an investigation into the incident where the cryptocurrency exchange Bissum distributed Bitcoin worth approximately 6.8 trillion yen to customers by mistake, as reported by multiple media outlets. The FSS Director stated that this erroneous distribution exposed structural problems in the virtual asset exchange's ledger system, and showed a commitment to enhancing supervision across the industry. On February 6th, Bissum intended to distribute rewards of 2,000 won (approximately 214 yen) but due to a data entry error, 695 customers received a total of 620,000 BTC, with up to 2,000 BTC going to each individual.
