CME Group to Launch 24/7/365 Cryptocurrency Futures and Options Trading by End of May

On February 19th, CME Group announced in an official press release that it will begin offering its regulated cryptocurrency futures and options trading around the clock, every day of the year, starting May 29, 2026. The launch is contingent upon regulatory approval and will commence at 4 PM Central Time on the same day on the CME Globex platform. Trading will continue throughout the week with a minimum of two hours reserved for maintenance. Transactions conducted over the weekend and on holidays will be processed on the following business day, with clearing, settlement, and regulatory reporting treated similarly. As of the beginning of 2026, the daily average volume was reported at 407,200 contracts, marking a 46% increase from the previous year.
