Ethereum Foundation Begins Staking 70,000 ETH for the First Time, Shifting Away from Reliance on Sales

Initiation of Staking 70,000 ETH

On the 24th, the Ethereum Foundation announced on its official blog that, for the first time in its history, it would stake a portion of its treasury. The amount involved is approximately 70,000 ETH, with the rewards generated to be reinvested back into the treasury. Technologically, the Foundation has adopted the open-source software 'Dirk' and 'Vouch'. Dirk is a decentralized signing system that distributes signatories across multiple geographic regions, designed to eliminate single points of failure. Vouch combines multiple beacon and execution clients to reduce client diversity risks.
