Democratic Senator Demands Records from Binance Amid Allegations of Sanctions Evasion in Iran

Request follows reports of investigator dismissal

On the 24th, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (Democrat) issued a statement demanding that cryptocurrency exchange Binance submit records related to its service provision to individual users residing in Iran, as well as documents concerning the dismissal of compliance officers.

In his statement, Blumenthal referred to articles from The New York Times among others. According to these reports, compliance officers who identified Binance usage by users in sanctioned countries like Iran and Russia were either suspended or dismissed.
