On the 3rd, JPYC Corporation and Japan Duty-Free announced their agreement on a business partnership aimed at developing a next-generation tax refund model using the Japanese yen stablecoin 'JPYC'. This initiative is in preparation for the transition to a 'refund (post-payment) system' scheduled for November 2026 in Japan's duty-free scheme.

Starting in November 2026, Japan's duty-free system will shift to a refund method where the customs verify the items carried out of the country before refunding the consumption tax, a move designed to prevent illegal reselling.
