On the 21st, the Financial Affairs Committee of the House of Councillors discussed blockchain-based prediction markets.

MP Hideichi Harada of the Democratic Party for the People questioned the perspective on prediction markets during the meeting. Shungo Inoue, Director-General of the Financial Services Agency's Planning and Markets Bureau, responded, showing a cautious stance on the development of prediction markets in Japan.

During the questioning, Mr. Harada pointed out that in the United States, prediction markets like Polymarket are rapidly expanding as a new form of information market surpassing traditional opinion polls.
