Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mizuho Bank have revealed plans to jointly issue a stablecoin by fiscal 2026, as reported by Nikkei on the 9th.

The banks are set to sign a basic agreement soon and will establish a council to explore operational strategies. Initially, the council will be formed by these three banks, with an aim to later expand collaboration with other financial institutions.
