This increase came despite a 14.1% drop in gold prices during the same period, indicating a growing demand for gold-backed physical assets. Gold prices ended the quarter at $4,008.02 per troy ounce, having fallen from the high of the first quarter amidst a stronger US dollar and shifting inflation expectations.
