On August 7, the Financial Services Agency announced the establishment of a new division, the 'Crypto Assets and Stablecoins Division,' dedicated to overseeing crypto assets and stablecoins. This announcement was made on August 5, 2026. According to the agency's newly released organizational chart, this division is an evolution of the former 'Crypto Asset, Blockchain, and Innovation Office,' which was under the General Policy Bureau's Risk Analysis Division. Following the reorganization, it will now operate directly under the Asset Management and Insurance Supervision Bureau.
