An Overview of 23-Hour Trading

Starting December 6, Nasdaq will transition to a system that allows U.S. stocks to be traded 23 hours a day, five days a week. This change, revealed in an 8-K filing submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), significantly extends the current trading window of approximately 16 hours, with the only interruption being a one-hour stop for system maintenance.

The SEC approved the related proposal on April 10. The actual operation will involve coordination with the DTCC's clearing system and the Securities Information Processors (SIP)...
