[NEWS] Disney launches NFT marketplace "Disney Pinnacle" with Dapper Labs

Disney and Dapper Labs announced on the 14th that they have launched a new NFT marketplace called "Disney Pinnacle."

The platform will combine nostalgia with cutting-edge technology to feature Disney characters and popular Pixar icons. Star Wars characters will also be depicted in a unique style as tradable digital pins.

Dapper Labs co-founder and CEO Roham Gharegozlou said in the announcement, "Disney Pinnacle is a brand new service designed from the ground up to incorporate everything we've learned over the past few years."

Dapper Labs released the popular blockchain game "CryptoKitties" in 2017 and made a big splash with the launch of "NBA Top Shot" in 2020. The company developed the blockchain Flow for large-scale consumer applications such as collectibles and games, gradually moving toward decentralization.

Regarding Disney Pinnacle, Dapper Labs explained, "We are enabling the first digital pin and trading experience where fans around the world can discover, trade, complete challenges, and show their passion for characters from Disney's 100-year history, as well as Pixar and Star Wars characters, as unique digital pins."

Gharegozlou also emphasized that Disney fans can easily interact with each other from anywhere in the world, collect digital pins on their mobile phones, and trade them instantly and securely.

Each collection is designed to take on a unique journey inspired by signature pins sold at Disney theme parks, and collectors can build their own collections from anywhere using their smartphones or other devices.

This initiative will be another major brand partnership following partnerships with Google and the NFL.

Disney Pinnacle is scheduled to be released on the Apple App Store for iOS later this year. It will then be available on the Google Play Store and official website.

Last year, Disney also developed NFTs with Polygon

Last year, Disney revealed that it was developing digital collectibles with Polygon Lab. While not revealing specific details, the company said it is "conducting a proof of concept for a special digital collectible to recognize Disney employees on special occasions."

Disney has also announced the release of an NFT digital collectible in 2021, demonstrating its commitment to the NFT space.
