On the 20th, Japan Airlines (JAL) announced that it will sell the "JAL TODOFUKEN NFT Collection," a digital virtual flight turned into an NFT, based on the popular prefecture stickers distributed on domestic flights.
This is a new initiative by JAL, who has entered the NFT business since the "KOKYO NFT" announced in February this year. According to the announcement, the collection will be on sale from the 29th of this month on LINE's NFT marketplace "LINE NFT."
Through its business using NFT technology, JAL aims to build new relationships with customers and contribute to creating a connected population.
Based on the concept of "JAL TODOFUKEN SEAL," which is to "cherish the connection with customers on board," this NFT collection was born from the desire to "create new connections" with customers and local areas digitally.
In addition, the NFT designed with the JAL TODOFUKEN SEAL and boarding pass will allow customers to enjoy "a virtual flight carrying their feelings for their local area." Please note that this boarding pass cannot be used as an actual boarding pass.
In the first wave, VIRTUAL FLIGHTs for five cities - Hokkaido, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Okinawa - will be converted into NFTs and sold in limited quantities of 350 of each. The retail price is 2,525 yen including tax.
In addition, users who own all five types as of August 31st of this year will receive a special NFT as a completion bonus.
The completion bonuses are a "special NFT (video)" and a "boarding pass-type complete bonus (physical item)." The boarding pass-type complete bonus will be given to 100 users who have completed the collection, selected by lottery.

The distribution method will be that the official LINE account will notify users of the bonus via DOSI Wallet, and the official LINE NFT LINE account will send them a URL for the collection form. The special NFTs will be distributed from September 8th onwards, and the boarding pass-type complete benefit from September 15th onwards.
JAL says it will continue to deepen its ties with customers and the local community through initiatives that utilize new technology such as the TODOFUKEN NFT collection.
In the "KOKYO NFT" project announced in February this year, the company developed local products and experience-based NFTs, aiming to increase the number of people connected to the region and create a new community by building a system that allows inbound visitors to maintain long-term relationships with the region before and after their trip.
In Toba City, Mie Prefecture, where the demonstration experiment was conducted, the NFT combined the "pearl wedding" to celebrate the 30th wedding anniversary with Toba City, the "city of pearls," which was the first in the world to successfully serve Western-style cuisine using pearls, to create an NFT that would make people think, "I want to continue spending my special days in Toba in the future."
In addition, Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture, has made an NFT the right to become the owner of a barrel of brown sugar shochu, a local specialty. Three years later, the owner will receive his or her own original bottle of shochu. Each year, the owner will be offered a special local experience in Amami each season, which will include a tasting of the shochu barrels to see how well they have aged.
