[NEWS] LDP launches "Digital Advanced Finance Council" with participation from bitFlyer and Coincheck

On the 5th, some members of the Liberal Democratic Party launched the "Digital Advanced Finance Parliamentary League." The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported. By getting private financial institutions that provide financial services using the internet to participate across industries, the league aims to promote digital transformation (DX) and establish a next-generation financial system.

The League for Promoting Commodity Futures Trading, which has been active for many years with the aim of promoting commodity futures trading, will be developed and dissolved. According to LDP member of the House of Representatives Junichi Kanda, member of the House of Representatives Masaaki Taira will serve as chairman. Member of the House of Representatives Seiji Kihara will serve as deputy chairman, and member of the House of Representatives Masanobu Ogura will serve as secretary-general.

From the online securities industry, SBI Securities, Rakuten Securities, and Matsui Securities will participate, while from the online banking industry, Sumishin SBI Net Bank, Sony Bank, and PayPay Bank will participate. From the cryptocurrency industry, cryptocurrency exchanges bitFlyer and Coincheck will participate. In addition, Osaka Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange are also expected to participate.

Web 3.0 activities in the LDP

Taira also serves as chair of the LDP's web3PT (project team) and AIPT. Last year, web3PT released the "NFT White Paper" as a policy proposal. In April of this year, it also compiled the "Web 3.0 White Paper - Towards an era when everyone can utilize digital assets".

The 2023 "Web 3.0 White Paper" consists of "issues that are bottlenecks in business execution and should be addressed immediately," "issues that should be discussed and deepened now in anticipation of the development and widespread use of the Web 3.0 ecosystem," and "progress monitoring of the NFT White Paper proposals."

The white paper also mentions tax reforms for crypto assets (virtual currencies), and points out that along with the review, issuance, and distribution of various tokens and consumer protection, these are "issues that should be addressed immediately to promote web3."
