Cryptolier Inc. has provided its NFT business platform “MintMonster” for the “Hokusai Fugaku Reiwa-kei Project,” which was selected under Kanagawa Prefecture’s in-house venture program.
The project serves as a pilot initiative to test a donation model for environmental conservation groups using NFTs, drawing attention as a new example of regional revitalization and local development through digital assets and Web3.0 technologies.
Background: Environmental Degradation and the Challenge of Insufficient Support
Environmental deterioration caused by global warming is becoming increasingly serious in Japan and around the world. Various regions face alarming conditions, including coastal deforestation, the collapse of marine ecosystems, and the decline of forested areas. Environmental conservation organizations tasked with addressing these issues are struggling due to chronic shortages of both personnel and funding.
In response to these challenges, NFTs are emerging as a novel mechanism for fundraising. The “Hokusai Fugaku Reiwa-kei Project” leverages NFTs—digital assets that can be owned and traded—to solicit donations for conservation initiatives. The project was selected for Kanagawa Prefecture’s in-house venture program, positioning it as a forward-thinking initiative.
The collaborative effort brings together seven entities: Kanagawa Prefecture, Niseko Town in Hokkaido, Samurai Architects, Hakuhodo, Urakami Sokyudo, Little Blue, and Cryptolier. Through public–private partnership, the group aims to advance a new model for solving environmental and social issues.
AI-Generated Hokusai Art as Reiwa-era NFT Landscapes
The project produces and sells an NFT art series titled “Hokusai Fugaku Reiwa-kei,” reimagining contemporary Japanese landscapes in the style of Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The works are generated by “AI Hokusai,” an algorithm developed by Samurai Architects, under the supervision of renowned art dealer Mitsuru Urakami of Urakami Sokyudo.
Purchasers of these NFTs can donate directly to environmental conservation groups through the acquisition of the digital artwork. In return, donors gain access to exclusive experiential rewards.
Donations can be submitted via a dedicated QR code, with applications also accepted through the project’s official site. The demonstration period is scheduled from November 13 to December 25, 2025.
