NTT Docomo and Monex Securities enter into capital and business alliance agreement
On the 4th, NTT Docomo announced that it has signed a capital and business alliance agreement with Monex Group and its subsidiary Monex Securities.
As part of this, Monex Securities will hold approximately 49% of the shares and voting rights of Nakama Co., Ltd., which will be established through a stock transfer. As a result, Monex Securities will become a consolidated subsidiary of Docomo.
Nakama Co., Ltd. will be called "Docomo Monex Holdings", and the transfer is scheduled to take place on January 4th next year.
Through this business alliance, Docomo will begin offering asset formation services through "d Pay". By linking "d Points", "d Card", "d Account", etc. with Monex Securities, the company plans to increase the value of these services by expanding the opportunities for use.
In addition to asset formation services, Docomo will also provide information content and educational services. It plans to hold seminars at Docomo shops and other locations to help customers improve their investment knowledge and financial literacy.
He also explained that they will develop and sell financial products, including STOs (security token offerings), to meet customer needs.
With a d-point membership base of 96 million, Docomo's entry will have a major impact. By making Monex Securities, a major online securities company, a subsidiary, they will be able to make their presence felt in the financial industry.
▶︎Specific initiatives of both companies
Monex Group owns the cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck under its umbrella and has entered the Web 3.0 field.
In addition, Docomo signed a basic agreement with Astar Network, a domestic public blockchain company, in October last year to cooperate in promoting Web 3.0. After that, they announced that they would establish a new Web 3.0-related company and invest the equivalent of 600 billion yen to officially enter the Web 3.0 field.
In this announcement, Docomo stated that they would develop and sell new financial products, so there is a possibility that they will accelerate their activities in the Web 3.0 field in the future.
