MMD Research Institute, operated by MMD Labo, announced the results of the "2023 Cryptocurrency Survey" on the 25th. As a result, 10.8% of respondents had used a cryptocurrency (virtual currency) exchange, and the top services used were "Mercari's Bitcoin trading service," "Rakuten Wallet," and "bitFlyer."
The preliminary survey was conducted between November 24th and 29th on 30,000 men and women aged 20 to 60, and the main survey was conducted on 1,600 people who had used cryptocurrency trading services.
29.1% of respondents answered that they "know a service" regarding cryptocurrency exchanges, and 10.8% of respondents had used them overall. In addition, by gender and age, the most users were men in their 20s at 21.4%, followed by those in their 30s at 20.6%, with the younger generation dominating the majority.
The top cryptocurrency trading services used were "Rakuten Wallet," "bitFlyer," and "Coincheck." In terms of breakdown, Rakuten Wallet topped the list with 27.5%, followed by bitFlyer with 23.1% and Coincheck with 19.8%.

When 1,728 people who started using cryptocurrency exchanges in 2023 were asked about the services they started using in 2023, 27.4% chose "Mercari's Bitcoin trading service," followed by Rakuten Wallet with 24.2% and bitFlyer with 11.3%.
Furthermore, when 1,675 people who answered that they had been using cryptocurrency exchange services for less than a year were asked about the services they had used, 26.9% chose "Rakuten Wallet," followed by Mercari's Bitcoin trading service with 20.8% and bitFlyer with 12.0%.

Point investment was the trigger for use
A survey of 1,600 people who had used cryptocurrency exchange services extracted from a preliminary survey on what prompted them to start using them showed that Rakuten Wallet and Mercari's Bitcoin trading service were ranked first for "being able to purchase with points."
For bitFlyer, Coincheck, GMO Coin, SBI VC Trade, and Bitbank, the top answer was "I was interested in investing," while for DMM Bitcoin, the top answer was "I became interested after seeing an advertisement."

In addition, a survey was conducted on cryptocurrency exchange service users to gauge their satisfaction with the service in five areas: "ease of starting use," "ease of use of the app," "security," "support system," and "ease of depositing." For "ease of starting use" and "ease of use of the app," Mercari's Bitcoin trading service came in first, while for "security," "support system," and "ease of depositing" the top answers were DMM Bitcoin.
