On the 19th, former US President Donald Trump announced the second series of his NFT trading cards, "Collect Trump Cards."
Like Series 1, the cards sold out in a few hours after their release.
Series 2 will be issued in 47,000 units, priced at $99 (approx. JPY 13,300), the same as the previous series. This resulted in sales of $4.6 million (approx. JPY 620 million). Payment methods include the cryptocurrency Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) and credit cards.
Series 2, released this time, features Trump as the King of Hearts and a hamburger shop clerk, as well as a gold-shining king statue, soldiers, rock stars, Columbus, and more than Series 1.
According to the official website, like Series 1, this NFT was created on Polygon (MATIC). The reason for adopting Polygon is that it is a carbon-neutral and environmentally friendly blockchain.
Former President Trump posted on his Instagram with an NFT holding the Liberty Bell, "The digital trading cards I launched previously were a huge success, and I'm happy to announce that I'm releasing them again."
He also wrote, "I could have made the price higher. I think I would have sold even if I had raised the price. But I didn't make that decision. Can you give me some nice guy credit?", emphasizing that he kept the price the same out of consideration for users.
As with Series 1, those who purchase 47 NFTs will receive an invitation to dinner with Trump. In addition, the first 50 people who purchase 100 NFTs will receive a special card, inviting them as guests to a dinner at Trump's home in Palm Beach, Florida.
Meanwhile, with the release and sellout of Series 2, the price of Series 1 on the secondary market has dropped significantly.
As with the previous collection, the company has stated that this NFT collection is not related to political activities.
Trump is seeking reelection in the 2024 US presidential election, and last month he issued a message called "Agenda 47." Therefore, the total number of cards in Series 2 released this time is thought to be related to this message.
