Netyear Group, which supports corporate marketing activities with UX design based on design thinking, announced on the 7th that it will begin a demonstration experiment of "Connected Used Clothing" from next month 4th as part of a community contribution project that is being promoted in collaboration with Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture and the general incorporated association Social Design Lab.
"Connected Used Clothing" is one of the "Abandoned School Mall" projects, a regional innovation hub creation project that is being promoted in collaboration with Netyear Group, Uwajima City, and Social Design Lab.
In recent years, there has been a growing desire to create a sustainable society in line with the SDGs. Companies are being asked by the market to reform their management policies and review their business strategies. On the other hand, local governments are facing challenges in promoting sustainable regional revitalization SDGs and creating innovation that are rooted in the community.
Under these circumstances, in December 2022, Netyear Group signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture, which was exploring ideas for utilizing abandoned schools. The school has been reborn as a mall that serves as a base for regional innovation, such as by using it as a coworking space or shared office, and aims to solve problems between businesses and the government. This has led to the promotion of regional revitalization and the use of the regional revitalization support tax system in collaboration.
A contribution system that makes effective use of used clothing
As a new project, a demonstration experiment will be conducted at the abandoned school mall Beach Village Ishio (formerly Ishio Elementary School) to conduct a demonstration experiment of the "Connected Used Clothing" system, which allows people interested in the area's low birth rate and aging population to participate and contribute to solving problems, and to examine the direction of regional economic revitalization using digital technology.
"Connected Used Clothing" is a community contribution project that uses unwanted clothing. Used clothing is collected at Beach Village Ishio using a collection kit, and the collected used clothing is sorted mainly by local seniors, and sold or reused as original products.
Purchasers of collection kits and products will receive a portion of the purchase price back as local points that can be used on the "Connected Used Clothing" EC site. These local points can be used at Beach Village Ishio stores, and can also be donated to seniors as a way of supporting the community.
The company explains that this initiative is expected to create jobs for local seniors, create a new community that connects people inside and outside the region, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.
Utilizing abandoned schools, a nationwide issue
This demonstration experiment will examine the direction of regional economic revitalization using digital technology through the regional implementation of blockchain-based regional points, NFTs, and fan marketing platforms.
The demonstration experiment will run from December 4th to March 31st, 2024. In addition to selling used clothing collection kits, collecting used clothing, and selling used clothing, the experiment will also issue and use regional points using blockchain.
The effectiveness of fan marketing using Netyear Group's marketing platform will also be examined, and limited NFTs with participation rights in the demonstration experiment project will be issued. The target area will be all over Japan, and the collection location will be Beach Village Ishio.
If the results of this project, which aims to revitalize the region by selling used clothing using blockchain, are good, it could lead to a solution to the nationwide issue of utilizing abandoned schools.
