Making crypto assets a part of everyday life—wallet-linked debit cards make life more convenient | Interview with Oliver Goose of RC Wallet

Acting as a bridge between traditional financial systems and blockchain

Nagatomo: First, please tell us about the background and vision of RC Wallet. What was your inspiration for developing this wallet?

Oliver Goose (hereinafter, Oliver): I'm an engineer, so I'm familiar with crypto assets, but many people still find this field difficult and confusing. Blockchain technology is great, but it's meaningless if it's not easy for everyone to use. We developed RC Wallet with the concept of seamlessly connecting crypto assets and traditional finance. By linking a crypto wallet with a debit card, we have created a system that makes it easy for anyone to do things like shopping, paying bills, and withdrawing cash from ATMs.

Nagatomo: What is RC Wallet's long-term vision in terms of bridging the gap between crypto assets and traditional financial services?

Oliver: Our goal is to act as a bridge between the traditional financial system and blockchain until blockchain is widely adopted in the world. What people want is the convenience of being able to use their money freely when they need it. For example, to buy what they want, pay bills, and have access to their money anytime, anywhere.

Specifically, we believe it is important to provide a simple and intuitive user experience that is "tap and go". No one wants to enter a long code to buy a $2 coffee, right? In the future, it will be easy to pay your electricity bill or rent, and you can complete various payments without any hassle when you're out and about. RC Wallet's strength is that it can provide such convenience, and we ultimately aim to create a future where RC Wallet can do everything that traditional banking can do.

Nagatomo: The market for cryptocurrency-related services is highly competitive, so what is RC Wallet's point of differentiation?

Oliver: RC Wallet takes a community-first approach. We started with card services and plan to introduce our own currency rooted in the community in the future. This will improve the convenience of the service as well as strengthen the reward system that the community can enjoy.

For example, if you trace the history of Asian countries, there are many areas where the community is the foundation of people's lives. A good relationship between service providers and communities is a major key to business success, and RC Wallet's strength in being able to approach communities in Southeast Asian countries is also a point of differentiation.

Additionally, we have a long-term roadmap, which is another key feature.
