On May 12, 2026, Anthropic and OpenAI, two leading AI development companies, declared that any transfer of shares or the resulting transfer of economic benefits without board approval would be "void." This statement had a devastating impact on platforms like PreStocks, which tokenized the economic rights of unlisted shares on Solana.

Tokens linked to Anthropic plummeted by nearly 40% in a single day, from approximately $1,400 to a record low of $812. OpenAI's tokens similarly fell by up to 46%, reaching around $1,073. Because the issuers directly stated that they would "not permit transfers," the legal rights backing the tokens were lost.
