On the 29th of last month, the cryptocurrency management company Grayscale announced the results of a survey on cryptocurrency awareness targeting US voters.
This survey was conducted by Grayscale at the request of market research firm Harris Poll. The survey focused on cryptocurrency policy in the US presidential election to be held in November. As a result, the survey revealed that voters' interest in cryptocurrency is increasing.
This survey was conducted from April 30 to May 2 through Harris On-Demand Omnibus, targeting 1,768 US presidential voters. As a result, it was found that the cryptocurrency ownership rate and policy awareness of US voters have improved compared to the survey conducted at the end of November last year.
In the US presidential election to be held in November this year, a de facto one-on-one battle is expected between Democratic President Joe Biden and former Republican President Donald Trump.
On top of that, Trump has changed his attitude to a very positive one toward cryptocurrency, and is gaining support from cryptocurrency users. Recently, President Biden has also been seen to change his attitude towards crypto assets as part of his election strategy.
All of these moves stem from the high level of interest in crypto asset policy. In other words, crypto asset policy has become one of the important issues in the US presidential election. In fact, the survey released this time also highlighted the fact that voters recognize crypto assets as important.
As an important point, as Bitcoin (BTC) matures year by year, almost half (47%) of voters who believe that the importance of crypto assets is increasing said that they would incorporate crypto assets into their investment portfolio.
In addition, 28% of users cited inflation countermeasures as the biggest issue in the US presidential election, the highest number. Regarding these results, Grayscale said that the "potential value" of assets with high transparency and limited supply such as Bitcoin has been highlighted once again.
In the survey conducted last November, 34% of voters who answered that they were "paying attention to Bitcoin" cited "rising geopolitical risk, inflation, and risk to the US dollar" as reasons. However, this time, the number has risen to 41%, suggesting that interest in Bitcoin is growing for the purpose of preserving personal assets.
Interest in Bitcoin may have been influenced by the approval of a Bitcoin spot ETF and the halving life. About 20% of voters said that these factors have caused them to become interested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
The survey also revealed the cryptocurrency ownership rate by political party support, with 18% for Republicans and 19% for Democrats. Furthermore, in response to the question "Which party is more favorable for cryptocurrency policy, the Republican Party or the Democratic Party?", 30% of voters answered Republican, and 30% also answered Democrat.
In the United States, bipartisan cryptocurrency-related bills have been passed one after another, once again highlighting the possibility that cryptocurrency policy will become an important issue in the US presidential election.
