SBI VC Trade and Bitpoint Japan Set to Merge, Integration Scheduled for April This Year

Industry Reorganization Trends

SBI VC Trade and Bitpoint Japan, both cryptocurrency exchange operators under SBI Holdings, resolved on the 30th to merge with an effective date of April 1, 2026. The merger will be conducted as an absorption-type merger with SBI VC Trade as the surviving company, and a merger approval shareholders' meeting is scheduled for March 31. Bitpoint Japan became a consolidated subsidiary of SBI Holdings in May 2022 after acquiring 51% of its shares, and in February 2023, it acquired the remaining shares to become a wholly-owned subsidiary. The merger aims to concentrate group management resources in anticipation of compliance with the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, focusing on the regulatory framework for cryptocurrency assets.
