HashPort announced on the 22nd that it will be collaborating with JR West to hold the Osaka Loop Line NFT Station Stamp Rally to promote the use of the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet. The event will begin on the 30th of this month, 500 days before the opening of the Expo. On the same day, Osaka-Kansai Expo-wrapped trains will begin operating on the Osaka Loop Line and JR Yumesaki Line.
To realize the Osaka Loop Line NFT Station Stamp Rally, NFTs and SBTs (SoulBound Tokens) issued using the blockchain Palette Chain developed by HashPort's HashPalette will be used.
In addition to providing a new customer experience for stamp rallies, the company will work to foster momentum for the Expo and its users to "connect" through the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet.
Stamp rallies were also popular at the 1970 Expo
At the 1970 Osaka Expo, each pavilion was provided with its own stamp, and the stamp rally, in which participants stamped their stamps in a stamp book, became popular. The "Discover Japan" campaign, which was launched by the then Japanese National Railways in October 1970, just after the Osaka Expo ended, saw an increase in fans collecting original stamps placed at major stations across the country.
In collaboration with JR West, the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet will create NFT station stamps, an evolution of station stamps, in preparation for the Expo to be held in Osaka and Kansai for the first time in half a century.
Taking this opportunity, the company will provide a new stamp rally experience where people can collect and enjoy NFT station stamps digitally.
The campaign will run from November 30, 2023 to March 24, 2024. In the first wave, NFT station stamps will be placed at five locations: Osaka Station, Nishikujo Station, Bentencho Station, Tennoji Station, and inside the 323-series Expo-wrapped train. The number of locations will then be expanded to four. They are scheduled to be placed at a total of 20 locations, including all 19 stations on the Osaka Loop Line and inside the 323-series Expo-wrapped train.
Coupon NFTs that can be used at restaurants are also issued
Hashport has partnered with the Osaka Restaurant Association (ORA) to promote the use of the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet and has been distributing coupon NFTs that can be used at restaurants since the 10th of this month.
All coupon NFTs are issued by Palette Chain, and store benefits can be used at 36 stores of 8 brands affiliated with the Osaka Restaurant Association.
By scanning the two-dimensional code displayed on the POP at participating stores with the EXPO2025 Digital Wallet, you can obtain a coupon NFT with store benefits. The coupon NFT can be used at eligible stores during the campaign period.
This campaign will be a precedent for the widespread use of coupon NFTs in the future in the activities to build momentum for the start of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. It is also an operational experiment of the issuance of large-scale coupon NFTs, and will be an activity that embodies the idea of the Osaka-Kansai Expo as a "testing ground for the future society."
The participating brands are Chibo, an okonomiyaki specialty restaurant, Ganko Sushi, a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, Daiki Suisan, Shoya Food Service, which handles food and beverage services, Meigetsukan, a yakiniku restaurant, Shinsaibashi Mitsuya, a general restaurant, Manyoya, a yakiniku restaurant, and Osaka Ohsho, a gyoza restaurant. The benefits vary by store.
