LINE NEXT, a group company of LINE Yahoo, announced on the 22nd that it has simultaneously released mini Dapps and a Dapp portal based on LINE Messenger worldwide. The first 32 mini Dapps were released, and the focus is on whether they can lead to mass adoption of Web 3.0 through LINE, which is used by many Japanese people.
Mini Dapps are dApps based on Kaia, and they are characterized by the fact that you can easily experience Web 3.0 within LINE Messenger without having to install a dedicated app.
In addition, the Dapp Portal allows you to search for and use mini Dapps in a wide range of categories, including games, social media, and content. You can also access mini Dapps individually from their official LINE accounts through the Dapp Portal. In the future, LINE NEXT plans to add a user flow that will serve as an entrance to the Dapp Portal in the home tab of LINE Messenger.
By utilizing the wallet linked to LINE Messenger, users can earn rewards from each Dapp and trade tokens and NFTs. A web browser version of the Dapp Portal is also planned to be provided in the future.
LINE NEXT announced in December last year that it plans to release the Dapp Portal in the first quarter of 2025.
The mini-Dapps released along with the release were developed by various builders through the Kaia Wave program, which is jointly run by LINE NEXT and the Kaia Foundation to support Web 3.0 developers, as well as through the software development kit provided by LINE NEXT. These include "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- on LINE," a game based on the popular soccer manga "Captain Tsubasa," and "social.meme," developed by Financier, which operates the token platform "FiNANCiE."
LINE NEXT says it aims to release more than 1,000 projects by the end of 2025.
In the announcement, LINE NEXT CEO Ko Young-soo said, "Ease of access and use are crucial to popularizing Web 3.0 services," and continued, "We hope that the Dapp Portal and mini-Dapp based on LINE Messenger will be the first large-scale example of Web 3.0 services in Asia."
