2024 was a year of great progress for the Web3.0 industry. The "Web3 Community Year-End Party" was held to celebrate the completion of a turbulent year and to promise a leap forward to 2025.
This event is one of the annual events held by domestic cryptocurrency exchange OKJ during the year-end party season, and was hosted together with layer-1 blockchain project Aptos (APT), with IOST and Mask Network (MASK) listed as co-hosts.
In this article, we look back on the passionate atmosphere of this event.
Projects that supported the event
Prior to the opening of the event, representatives from Aptos, the organizer, and co-hosts IOST and Mask Network gave speeches. Aptos Labs APAC Marketing Head Thomas Chou, IOST CO-CEO Blake Jeong, and Mask Network Founder Suji Yan were on stage. Each project looked back on 2024 and stated their aspirations for 2025.
All of the speakers were projects that support the development of the Web 3.0 industry. Let's introduce each project again.
・Aptos
Aptos is a layer-1 blockchain project created in 2022 by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, both from Meta in the United States. It is characterized by the use of the proprietary programming language "Move" that Meta was developing.
Aptos has strengths in accelerating and streamlining transaction processing while maintaining high security.
Currently, Aptos is focusing on the Japanese market, and in October of this year, it announced the acquisition of HashPalette, which develops the Palette Chain. In addition, at the end of last year, it was decided that Chin would become CEO.
・IOST
IOST was established in 2018, and the mainnet was launched in February 2019. It has a reputation for its high scalability.
By adopting a unique consensus algorithm called "PoB (Proof of Believability)", it is a mechanism that maintains high decentralization while being fast and incurring almost no gas fees (transaction fees). In addition, since it uses the programming language JavaScript, which is familiar to developers, dApps (decentralized applications) are also actively developed.
It is also known for its passionate community, and actively holds events in Japan.
・Mask Network
Mask Network is a project promoted by Sujitech Holding Ltd. and Dimension, and aims to be a bridge between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. Specifically, it allows users to encrypt messages on social networking sites such as X and Facebook, and communicate while protecting their privacy.
It aims to bring a new social networking experience through collaboration with Next.ID, a Web 3.0 protocol that utilizes DID (decentralized ID), and the mobile app Firefly.
Towards further progress in 2025
After the speeches, there was time for networking. The participants looked back on the turbulent year and deepened their relationships. It was also impressive to see the lively conversation, with 2025 positioned as the year of Web 3.0 growth. At this event, each project prepared gifts for attendees.
The event was lively from start to finish, and the atmosphere was friendly and harmonious.
OKJ has focused on hosting events in collaboration with the community. It is likely that they will continue to hold events to boost Japan's Web 3.0 industry, along with various projects, in the future.
We hope that at the end of 2025, they will once again collaborate with many other projects to hold lively events.
