Two days to liven up Web 3.0 in Japan: Iolite reports in detail on one of the biggest and most exciting events in Japan!
Japan has a powerful weapon in promoting Web 3.0. How do the leaders think and what do they say?
The Japanese government and large companies are now placing importance on Web 3.0. Given the trend of strengthening regulations worldwide, this year is said to be a year with a hidden opportunity for Japan to lead Web 3.0. In particular, Japan's content IP and the gaming field, which is popular worldwide, are important in growing the Web 3.0 field.
The enthusiasm has increased since last year, which marked the first year of Web 3.0, and large-scale Web 3.0-related events are scheduled in Japan in 2023. One of these events was the "TEAMZ WEB3 SUMMIT" hosted by TEAMZ Co., Ltd., which was held on both May 17th and 18th.
This event is an updated version of the "TEAMZ BLOCKCHAIN SUMMIT" that the company has previously held, focusing on Web 3.0. The purpose of the event is to gather world-class speakers and businesses to deepen understanding of the current international situation and the industry in order to develop Web 3.0 in Japan. According to the official announcement, 65 exhibitors, over 30 major media companies, and over 100 speakers will be taking to the stage. This is a scale worthy of a large-scale event. Speakers included leaders at the forefront of the Web 3.0 field in Japan, as well as many top players from overseas.
Prior to the event, TEAMZ CEO Yang Tianyu said, "Our goal is not just to be an event company. We want to play the role of an accelerator for Web 3.0."
These words strongly express the desire to bring overseas trends to Japan through this event, based on the concept of "boosting the Web 3 industry in Japan," and to make it a place of new awareness and discovery in order to develop a uniquely Japanese Web 3.0.
Japan's Web 3.0 becomes the global standard — "TEAMZ WEB3 SUMMIT" is filled with excitement and hope for the future
The stage for Japan's largest Web 3.0 event was Toranomon Hills Mori Tower. The entire fifth floor was rented out for the "TEAMZ WEB3 SUMMIT." Once you step inside, you'll find yourself in an exciting space as the cutting-edge Web 3.0 world unfolds.
From the lectures on the main stage to the hackathon on the sub-stage and the exhibition booths of participating companies, lively scenes could be seen everywhere. The lectures on the main stage were particularly popular, with standing-room only attendees at times.
On the first day, the main stage was particularly noteworthy for its lecture "Changes and Possibilities of Exchanges Due to the Development of Web 3," given by Yuzo Kano, CEO of bitFlyer Holdings, Inc. and Hironao Kunimitsu, CEO of Financier Inc.
In this session, it was mentioned that the wind is blowing in Japan's favor in the Web 3.0 field, and the background to this was a comparison of regulations with other countries. Currently, in the United States, the SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) is suing cryptocurrency-related businesses for violating the Securities and Exchange Act. However, nothing similar has happened in Japan.
This is evidence that Japan has been a leader in developing regulations. Given this situation, the words "Japan's regulations have the potential to become the global standard" spoken in the lecture may have encouraged those involved in Web 3.0 in Japan.

In addition, on both the first and second days, various discussions were held on areas that are currently attracting attention.
For example, regarding "Bitcoin NFTs," which are gaining more and more attention day by day, Yawn Rong, co-founder of GameFi and STEPN, which became a huge hit last year, expressed understanding of the current enthusiasm, but sounded a warning, saying, "Adding something to one thing can cause confusion and lead to the division of the community." This is a persuasive opinion that only someone like him who fully understands the importance of the community could express.
Furthermore, various opinions were expressed about AI, which has been attracting particular attention this year with the emergence of "ChatGPT" and other technologies.
Motoki Tani, co-founder of Animoca Brands, Inc., stated his opinion that "Web 3.0 will spread with the help of AI in the future," and raised his voice, saying, "Japan is an IP powerhouse and a treasure trove. With the government's support, now is the time to act."
Looking at the exhibition booths of the participating companies, the place was filled with enthusiasm. Not only was there a high level of interest in Web 3.0 at the venue, but it was also impressive to see many people stopping to explore the latest trends and listening intently to the talks.
When the second day of the exhibition ended, each exhibitor had a sense of accomplishment. The same could be said for the visitors, who were seen heading home with a look of satisfaction on their faces.
The event also included a lottery to give away 1 million yen worth of Bitcoin. This lottery, which was open to the first 100 visitors who completed the missions at each booth and received a stamp, was open to the first 100 visitors, and many visitors rushed to participate, creating a lot of excitement.
The event was initially expected to attract 3,000 visitors, but more than 4,500 actually showed up.
And what I felt from the interviews on both days was "expectations and seriousness about the Web 3.0 field." Not only the exhibitors and speakers, but even the general visitors were really enthusiastic about the future that Web 3.0 depicts, and the image of Japan leading it.
Technology that fascinates someone, and the new things created by that technology fascinate someone else. This could be the great energy that creates Web 3.0 and leads the world. Two days full of excitement. During this period, the center of Web 3.0 in Japan was undoubtedly swirling in Toranomon.
